Planting on Demand has started, for practical reasons, as a limited company registered with ID-number 81600607 in the Netherlands.
We offer tree planting through our partners at USD 1 per tree, that receive USD 0.90 for every tree sold. The 10% mark-up is reserved for platform costs, admin- and payment costs, exchange risk (we sell in Euro’s but pay out in USD) and bank fees. If anything is left after that, we’ll use that to upgrade the website and may pay something to volunteers.
In some area’s, 0.90 USD per tree is quite a lot, so we’ve agreed with these partners that they will do more with any surplus money that falls within the goals of their mission: expand the nurseries, buy more planting materials etc. We’ll leave this completely up to them.
